Brief introduction
Xu Guohong is the professor of English at the School of Foreign Languages, Beihang University, with major interests in discourse analysis, sociolinguistics and language teaching. She is now the head of Department of Rhetoric and Communication and the director of Beihang English Elite Program. She got her doctoral degree of sociolinguistics in 2012 from Beijing Normal University. From 2014 to 2015, She worked with the Debate and Speech Program of the University of Vermont as a visiting scholar.
Professor Xu has taught many courses of English, including Public Speaking in English, Consecutive Translation, English Debating, Critical Reading and Writing, Comprehensive English and College English. Because of her excellent teaching, she was awarded many honorable titles and prizes, among which are First Prize of Teaching Achievements, First Prize of Practical Teaching, Honorary Title of “Excellent Instructor”, awarded by Beihang University and Second Prize of Beijing Teaching Contests among Young College Teachers, awarded by Beijing Teaching Bureau.
